Armani Silos, a big YES!

Armani Silos, a big YES!

Hello fashion readers!
Reporting for Milanesi a Milano, after visiting the iconic Armani Silos Museum in Milan.

Zona Tortona (for the ones not living in Milan, it’s an important zone in the city for all types of design, since it welcomes most of the brands’ showrooms) hosts one of the biggest and most iconic design halls in the Fashion Industry, here a brief acknowledgment about my visit, personal opinion and a special gallery of pictures of the most stunning garments held in exhibition for the public.

Giorgio Armani, born in 1934, a former display assistant and buyer at La Rinascente in Milan, became one of the most acclaimed designers of all time. He formed his company, Armani, in 1975, which eventually expanded into music, sport and luxury hotels. By 2001, he was acclaimed as the most successful designer of Italian origin, and is well known for  pioneering in the red-carpet fashion.

Armani Silos is an open-to-the-public space illustrating GA’s professional experience, revealing a rich heritage of unique know-how: a space in which to design the future, a showcase of new attitudes and lifestyles that capture changing times and cultures.

The permanent exhibition, covering three floors of the building, is structured around three narratives that trace Giorgio’s creative work from 1980 to the present day, with a selection of approximately 400 garment and 200 accessories. On the first floor is ‘Androgino/Androgynous’, with a selection of garments that narrate the stereotype of Armani style, combining simplicity and precision with a surprising fluidity. On the second floor, ‘Etnie/Ethnicities’ evokes distant cultures and countries that have  stimulated the designer’s imagination. The top floor hosts ‘Stars’, which illustrates Giorgio Armani’s profound connection with the world of film and entertainment, reliving the glamour of Hollywood nights.

In my experience, as I am very close to the fashion industry, this work of art, because that’s how I would describe it from the moment you go inside the front door, until you leave, I kept my mouth wide open showing my excitement and was left astonished by the experience. Every detail is so well curated that you will want to keep going and going. The artisanal work done in every garment is so amazingly put together, that not even photography can describe the real thing.

I took some pictures and created a gallery for you to enjoy, and if you happen to visit Milan, this is a must to visit, also if you’re not interested in Fashion, it’s a cultural thing, because we have definitely all passed by Armani’s style.
