The Fashion Industry

The Fashion Industry

Phenomenal or too Much to Handle?

Fashion, whether we care for it or not, has a major imprint on everyone's life, because of its power of being people’s facade. When we think about fashion, on a superficial level, we may only consider the clothes and the stores themselves and whether that skirt fits me and/or if it’s worth the purchase. But the behind the scenes of what we see on perfectly folded in the stores, is complicated and overwhelming at times.

The fashion industry is in continuous development and evolution, always trying to be upbeat with trends and forecasts. This continuous pursuit for excellence and innovation creates a busy environment, moving different departments of the industry in order to achieve the same goal.

This industry can be pursued as compelling and captivating, while the behind the scenes display a chaotic environment that pushes people to their limits. This article, in fact, poses a fundamental question: Is working within the fashion industry worth it?

As a person who has studied three years in order to have a future in that world it may be considered a question with no answer. Fashion is in fact deceiving. All gold and glitters on the outside, but a war machine behind the scenes. The amount of energy and time that goes into every decision is colossal, increasing by the second, not even by the minute. Speed wise it could maybe be considered to be a very performing sports car.

Constant change leads to constant updating and innovating, and, as people evolve and change ideas

and tastes, his industry proceeds accordingly. Though I’m not trying to scare you away, as everything in this world, there are some pros and cons to this industry. I think I’m not wrong if I assume that most of you guys and girls have watched the movie ‘The Devil Wears Prada, and in assuming that you all though, counting me in the mix, that the situation Anne Hathaway was in was a mess and that Meryl Streep was so cool yet a mean boss at the same time. Well, not in such an extravagant and elusive way, but the fashion industry could be a less exaggerated version of the movie.

With big responsibilities and achievements also come insecurities and high stress levels. One of the main concerns for this industry, infact, is the high pressure in making fast decisions, which can be exhilarating and overwhelming all at once. Status has a big part on fashion and insecurities come along the way, but isn’t that what life is about? Learning to stand up for ourselves and proving who we are and how capable we are even to a horrible boss like Maryl Streep?

I guess what I’m trying to convey with this article is how similar the fashion industry is to everyone's everyday life, no matter how high or low the interest in fashion is.

I guess I’m going to embarc this experience with open arms;

And if I encounter difficulties I’ll drink a glass of wine with you!
